Why I Love Living & Working in Folsom, CA

Why I Love Living & Working in Folsom, CA

September 29, 2021

Folsom, CA—the place I’m proud to call home. Our family and business have been nestled in the foothills outside of Sacramento since 1999. The quaint downtown and iconic Rainbow Bridge make for a picture-perfect setting. But the endless outdoor entertainment and sense of community are the true reasons we’ve rooted our family here in Folsom. My business is located nearby in Citrus Heights.

We’re thankful for all the area has to offer. We can’t imagine living anywhere else, and we know we’re not alone in that frame of mind—here’s why.

The Perfect Location

With our proximity to Sacramento, we enjoy all the amenities of city life and the more relaxed setting of Folsom. From our home turf, we can head west to the San Francisco Bay Area or east to Lake Tahoe; both are just two hours away.

All the land in between lends itself to endless outdoor entertainment. There are 50 miles of bike trails nearby. For boating, kayaking, and paddleboarding, many head to the local bodies of water: Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma, and the American River.

When the weather is right, you can find me biking, enjoying Lake Natoma by kayak or paddleboard, or peacefully fly-fishing on the American River, which is well known for its salmon runs, fishing, and rafting.

From peaceful views and trails to more adventurous hiking and rafting, anyone who enjoys the outdoors is sure to appreciate all Mother Nature offers Folsom.

A True Sense of Community

We’re not alone in our love for Folsom—the sense of community is felt throughout the city.

The people of Folsom are friendly, inviting, and have a sense of pride in their piece of California.

Our family has been particularly fond of the thriving youth sports programs. The Folsom Parks & Recreation Commission is fully supported by parent volunteers; we’re always impressed by the level of involvement of fellow parents. There are opportunities for sports year-round for anyone interested in getting involved.

Family-Friendly Setting

The sense of community naturally leads to a family-friendly setting with gems throughout the area. Our favorite is the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary, which provides a home for animals who are orphaned or injured and cannot be released back into the wild. I’ve visited this zoo with my children dozens of times over the years.

My wife and I agree that Folsom has been the perfect spot for raising our four children, and I’m fortunate enough to have two of our grown children and their families within 10 minutes from us.
